Grand Teton Hotels: Where to Stay in Wyoming and Idaho by Area (+ Cabins & Lodges)

Hotels near the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, from Jackson to the quiet Idaho side (where we stayed). Here's how to pick.

Jacuzz with Grand Teton sunset (turn around, Jake!) — Our accommodation in Driggs

The best Grand Teton hotels, cabins and lodges depend on which end of the park you want to wake up in. Grand Teton (USA), is a narrow park with a long road through it, and the gate towns are at very different spots along that road. Jackson is at the south end. Moran and Jackson Lake are at the north end. And on the far side of the mountains, in Idaho, Driggs and Victor sit a mountain pass away. Where you sleep decides how much of your trip you spend driving.

We visited Grand Teton as one full day on a highlights trip with Jake's parents, from a home exchange in North Driggs, Idaho.

This guide to hotels near the Grand Tetons in Wyoming goes around the park area by area, starting with a short note on lodging inside it. If you haven't planned your route yet, our Grand Teton and Yellowstone Itinerary for Non-Hikers shows how we fit both parks into a week.

🐧 Our quick picks, one for each side of the Tetons:

🛌 Where to stay:
• Hotel Jackson, Jackson — A hotel less than a five-minute walk from Jackson Town Square, with an outdoor hot tub and two restaurants.
• Teton Mountain Lodge and Spa, Teton Village — A resort at the base of the ski area, with an outdoor pool and a restaurant.
• Teton Valley Cabins, Driggs — Cabins with kitchenettes on the quieter Idaho side of the Teton Range (we stayed in Driggs).

🇺🇸 Top experiences:
• Horseback ride through Bridger-Teton National Forest from Jackson Hole — A guided ride in the national forest around Jackson, for a day away from the park roads.
• Yellowstone Lower Loop day tour from Jackson — A day tour of Yellowstone's lower loop that starts in Jackson, if you're adding the second park.

🚗 Compare car rentals at Jackson Hole Airport — Every base in this guide is a drive from the park, and you'll want a car inside it too.

Best Grand Teton hotels: quick answer

For most first-timers, Jackson is the easiest base. It has the most hotels, restaurants, and shops, an airport nearby, and it's on the road into the park. Teton Village suits ski season and a resort stay, and it connects to the park by the Moose-Wilson Road. Moran and Jackson Lake is at the north end, closest to Yellowstone's South Entrance. Driggs and Victor in Idaho are quieter and offer more space for the money, in exchange for a longer drive over to the park. We stayed in Driggs. Lodging inside the park saves the most driving, and it's seasonal. If you're adding Yellowstone, read our Hotels Near Yellowstone National Park: Where to Stay by Entrance next.

Want a kitchen? Cabins and apartments exist on every side of the Tetons. Look at Cowboy Village Resort in Jackson, Teton Cabins near Moran, and Teton Valley Cabins in Driggs, which all list kitchen facilities. Cobblestone Hotel and Suites in Victor lists a kitchenette in its rooms. Booking.com's entire homes filter shows more in each town.

Grand Tetons National Park hotels: lodging inside the park

Enjoy Leigh Lake all to yourself

The Park Service lists seven places to stay inside Grand Teton. Four of them, Colter Bay Cabins, Headwaters Lodge and Cabins at Flagg Ranch, Jackson Lake Lodge, and Jenny Lake Lodge, are run by the Grand Teton Lodge Company. The rest are Signal Mountain Lodge, Triangle X Ranch, and the American Alpine Club's Climbers' Ranch, which offers bunk rooms. Most need to be booked directly with each lodge (except Jackson Lodge and Colter Bay Village — we’ve included them in the Moran section below), and the seasons are short, with most places closing by early or mid-October. For Headwaters Lodge and Cabins at Flagg Ranch, see our Yellowstone Hotel Guide. Campgrounds follow their own reservation rules, so check the Park Service site for those.

What you get in return is the one thing no town can offer: you wake up inside the park and enjoy it all to yourself before the tour buses show up.

Jackson, Wyoming hotels: the classic base

Playing the tourists in Jackson, and loving the lady who won’t move!

Distance: Jackson is at the south end of the park, on the main road in. The park's Moose area is a short drive north.

Jackson is a western town with a historic Town Square and more restaurants and souvenir shops than any other base here. We spent a foggy day there, after waterfalls and hot springs, and ate a delicious local dinner at the Silver Dollar Bar and Grill inside the Wort Hotel, as described in our itinerary. It's lively and easy, but a bit too touristy for our taste. From there it's a short drive north to the park the next morning.

Less than a five-minute walk from Jackson Town Square, with an outdoor hot tub and two restaurants with bars. Rooms have a gas fireplace and a small refrigerator. The pick if you want to walk to dinner.

Moran and Jackson Lake hotels: the north end of the park

Staying at the north end of Grand Teton is ideal if you want to visit Yellowstone too, like we did

Distance: Jackson Lake Lodge is a 45-minute drive from Jackson, and the north end is the closest to Yellowstone (ideal if you want to visit both parks — read our complete itinerary).

This is the quietest part of Grand Teton, with Jackson Lake in front and the Teton Range behind it. It's also where the park meets the road to Yellowstone, which is why the South Entrance section of our Yellowstone guide picks up where this one stops. Jackson Lake was very low when we visited, and many of its viewpoints weren't at their best, so check the water level before you plan around the lake views. The lodges are seasonal.

Jackson Lake Lodge

Inside the park, with panoramic Teton views from one of its three restaurants and a seasonal outdoor pool. Guests sleep in cottage rooms. The easiest place to be inside the park, as long as you book for the season it's open.

🐧 See prices and book here

Colter Bay Village

Cottages on the shores of Jackson Lake, with a restaurant, a grocery market, and barbecue and picnic areas. Some cottages share a bathroom, so check the room type before you book. When we visited, it was the last opening day of the shops (late September).

Teton Cabins

A farm stay in Moran with mountain views, a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace, and free parking.

Driggs, Idaho hotels: where we stayed

Grand Teton view from our accommodation in Driggs at sunset

Distance: Driggs is on the Idaho side of the Teton Range. It’s roughly an hour from the park, by way of Teton Pass.

Our base for Grand Teton was a home exchange with fabulous views on the range in North Driggs, a small town on the back side of the Tetons. We came from Yellowstone through Idaho on a travel day, as covered in our itinerary, and used it for a waterfall, a hot springs stop, and Jackson before our one full day in the park. The trade-off is the drive. Teton Pass is the shorter way over, and it's a route RVs are advised to avoid, so check road conditions before you cross, especially outside summer. Driggs works best on a mixed trip. If Grand Teton is all you're doing, stay closer.

Teton Valley Cabins

Cabins in Driggs with kitchenettes, an outdoor fireplace, barbecue facilities, and free parking.

Super 8 by Wyndham Driggs

A straightforward hotel with an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a free American buffet breakfast. Although we’re not fans of chains, it’s a good choice if you want a hotel instead of a cabin.

Teton West Motel

A motel with an indoor pool, a hot tub, and a free American buffet breakfast. Free parking on site.

Victor, Idaho hotels: more space, a quiet valley

Mormon Row is as photogenic as it gets

Distance: Victor is the next town south of Driggs, over Teton Pass from Jackson.

Victor is an interesting-looking town withresorts and lodges in and around town. It's the better choice if you want a resort with a pool and a restaurant on the Idaho side. The drive to the park is longer than from Jackson, so plan your days around one or two big outings instead of lots of short ones.

Teton Valley Resort

A beautiful resort with a restaurant, a seasonal outdoor pool, a hot tub, and an outdoor fireplace. Rooms have a private balcony.

🐧 See prices and book here

Fin and Feather Inn

A small, friendly inn outside town with garden and mountain views, a terrace, and a breakfast that guests praise for its variety. Our kind of places.

🐧 See prices and book here

The Lodge at Bronze Buffalo Ranch

A lodge with spa facilities, a seasonal outdoor pool, a hot tub, a steam room, and a restaurant. Rooms have balconies. Good for a relaxed stay with a bit of spa time.

Rooms with a kitchenette, a fridge, and a microwave, plus an indoor pool and a free American buffet breakfast. A practical pick for families.

🐧 Penguin tip: Parking at Mormon Row, Jenny Lake, and String Lake fills early, and our best morning started in fog before it cleared. Pick the base that lets you be on the road early, then plan the long drive for the day you care about least.

FAQ: Grand Teton hotels

Bear Trap Canyon trail on a beautiful September Sunday!

Where are the best hotels near the Grand Tetons in Wyoming?

For most first-timers, Jackson, Wyoming, because it has the most hotels and restaurants and it’s on the main road into the park. Teton Village is good for ski season, Moran and Jackson Lake suit the quiet north end, and Driggs and Victor in Idaho are quieter and offer more space.

Can you stay inside Grand Teton National Park?

Yes. The Park Service lists seven lodging options, including Jackson Lake Lodge, Colter Bay Cabins, Jenny Lake Lodge, Headwaters Lodge and Cabins at Flagg Ranch, and Signal Mountain Lodge. Four are run by the Grand Teton Lodge Company. Most close by early or mid-October, so confirm dates before you plan.

Is it better to stay in Jackson or Teton Village?

Jackson is livelier, with the Town Square, restaurants, and shops within walking distance of several hotels. Teton Village is a resort village at the base of the ski area and works better for ski trips or a resort stay. Choose by the kind of trip you want.

Can you stay in Driggs or Victor and visit Grand Teton?

Yes. We based ourselves in North Driggs, Idaho, and visited the park on one full day. The drive over Teton Pass adds time compared with staying in Jackson, and RVs are advised to avoid the pass, so check road conditions before you cross.

Are there cabins near Grand Teton?

Yes. Cowboy Village Resort in Jackson, Teton Cabins near Moran, and Teton Valley Cabins in Driggs all list kitchen facilities, and Colter Bay Cabins sit inside the park. Booking.com's entire homes filter shows more in each town.

Can you visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone from one base?

It's possible, but the drives get long. We used two bases, one in Ennis, Montana, for Yellowstone and one in Driggs, Idaho, for Grand Teton. Headwaters Lodge and Cabins at Flagg Ranch sits on the road between the two parks.

How far in advance should you book Grand Teton lodging?

The Park Service lodging page doesn't give a number of months, but it stresses that the seasons are short and tells visitors to book directly with each lodge. Check each lodge's booking calendar for the dates you want.

When do the lodges inside Grand Teton close for the season?

Most close by early or mid-October, according to the Park Service. Triangle X Ranch also lists a peak winter season, and you need to call for details. Check each lodge before you plan a shoulder-season trip.
